Saturday, May 26

It has been three years since my last visit to Nicaragua. One week from today, I return without my best girl Margie (praying for us all from Georgia) and our little Macy (beginning a summer of work in Manhattan). That alone makes this trip very different for me.

But it is a blessing to continue the ongoing relationship between FBC Cornelia, and others from throughout Georgia, with our brothers and sisters in Matagalpa. For nearly a decade, we have worked alongside the members of First Baptist Matagalpa to share the love of our Lord through medical clinics, Bible school, and construction projects. This is a mutually beneficial relationship where all who participate reap rich rewards. Hard to explain, a true joy to experience.

Today, one week from our departure, my guess is that I am not the only one who is excited. Several members of the Nica Mission Team will, like me, be returning to Central America. There are a few first timers that will help us all see the country and its people through new eyes and first-time experiences.

As with any journey, we are now in the final stages of preparing for success and perils that seldom occur. One such precaution is the malaria medication most of us begin today and continue weekly for a short while. There is little risk of side effects from the Chloroquine, as there is almost no threat to the team during our seven days in the Nica hills. In short, no need to worry. We are ready.

Pray for His will, and that we are faithful in following the path.
